(5) Herend Porcelain Fruits and Flowers Bowls. Each one has a different central pattern and style except for the two that have a pink pear in the middle. All hand-painted, all marked on undersides.

Founded in 1826 by Vince Stingl, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory transitioned from a struggling earthenware pottery to a luxury porcelain producer after Mór Fischer took control in 1839. Fischer successfully marketed his wares to the Hungarian aristocracy by replicating classical Far Eastern designs that were otherwise impossible to replace during mid 19th Century economic shifts. The company gained international fame through major exhibitions in London, New York, and Paris, leading to prestigious patterns named after royal clients like Queen Victoria. In 1872 Herend became the official “Purveyor to the Royal Court” and inherited the patterns of the closed Vienna Manufactory, though the firm later faced decline under inefficient leadership. The founder’s grandson, Eugen Fischer, revived the brand’s artistic reputation in 1897, steering it through the World Wars before the company was nationalized during the Soviet era. Following privatization in 1993, the manufactory returned to worker and management ownership and remains a global leader in hand-painted porcelain today.
