(5) Beau Geste Costumes from Classic 1939 Film worn by Gary Cooper & 4 Stars. Hollywood Antiquity fit for a Museum! Five French Foreign Legion Costumes worn by the stars of the 1939 William Wellman film Beau Geste! Of these (5) blue costumes, four include the famous blue military jackets that outfitted Gary Cooper as Michael "Beau" Geste; Ray Milland as John Geste; Robert Preston as Digby Geste; and J. Carrol Naish as Rasinoff. The costumes include tags with the names of the stars and are a very rare piece of movie memorabilia from 1939. Considered by many to be the greatest year ever in Cinema history, with the production of more classic films than any other year, films from 1939 include Gone With The Wind; Wizard of Oz;, Goodbye Mr. Chips; Mr. Smith Goes To Washington and Wuthering Heights, to name a few. Included in that pantheon of great films is Wellman’s Beau Geste, based on the 1924 novel of the same title by P. C. Wren. Equipped with a stellar cast that includes two time Oscar winner Cooper and Oscar winners Ray Milland, Susan Hayward, Broderick Crawford, this adventure was the kind of movie Tinsel town made flawlessly during Hollywood’s Golden era. The director of the film, William Wellman is credited with winning the first ever Oscar for Best picture in 1927 with Wings. While these handsome blue costumes are not in pristine shape, and show natural signs of wear, the fact that they have lasted this long representing the magic of Hollywood from a bygone era, make them a treasure for lovers of film history. A truly rare and historical collectible for lovers of cinema everywhere! Size of Longest: 27 x 48 in. #2124
