(4) Spurs. Lot of four equestrian rider spurs, including spike circle, single spike, and pair of brass stirrups.
Horse spurs are riding tools traditionally worn on a rider’s boots to aid in directing and encouraging a horse’s movement through gentle pressure or touch. Made from materials such as steel, brass, or silver, spurs typically feature a small neck ending in a rowel—a rotating, spiked or blunt wheel—or a smooth shank, depending on the riding style. Used in equestrian traditions worldwide, from European dressage to Western rodeo, their design and ornamentation can range from simple utilitarian forms to highly decorative pieces with engraving, inlay, or embossing. Historically, spurs have also served as status symbols, with elaborate versions worn by knights, cavalry officers, and skilled horsemen to signal rank and prestige as much as function.
