(4) Orange Art Glass Vases and Sculptures. The largest piece has a label on it from Barovier&Toso in the Czech Republic, and is signed. The second largest has a label attached to it from Höglund Art Glass in New Zealand, and is signed. The two smallest pieces are the same form, fish ascending from the deep with mouths open. They are signed indistinctly around the connection between the sculpture and the clear base.

Höglund Art Glass was opened in Appleby, New Zealand by Ola Höglund (1956-2024) and his wife Marie (Born 1955) in 1994, twelve years after the glass artists immigrated there from Sweden. They first met at the age of fifteen while training at Orrefors Glass Studios before being hired by Kosta Boda and Vastkusthyttans Art Glass, working together as a team for five decades to create glass masterpieces that have earned them world-wide praise. Their son Ossian and daughter-in-law Annabel began to work alongside them in the 2000s, and have helped Marie continue running the facilities since Ola was diagnosed with motor neuron disease two years before his death. 

Barovier&Toso is an Italian company specializing in high-quality, handcrafted Murano glass lighting and sophisticated interior design. Its glassmaking roots trace back to 1295 with earliest documented family records emerging in 1324. The modern enterprise formed in 1936 through the merger of Vetreria Artistica Barovier and Ferro Toso, officially adopting its current name in 1942. Legendary designer Ercole Barovier heavily impacted the company’s 20th Century legacy, creating critically acclaimed, award-winning pieces like the accidentally formulated “Primavera” craquelé glass series. In 2015 Rinaldo Invernizzi became the majority shareholder by acquiring a 95% stake, later expanding operations by opening the Palazzo Barovier&Toso showrooms in 2018. The company’s leadership continues to evolve globally, appointing Andrea Signoroni as CEO in 2024 and welcoming celebrated designer Luca Nichetto as artistic director in 2025.
