Autographed boxing ticket stub signed by FRANK SINATRA from the famous Robinson/ Basilio championship fight. Sinatra was a big fight fan even famously snapping some photos for a Life Magazine cover once of the Greatest boxing legend, Muhammad Ali. On this particular night March 25, 1958, when Sugar Ray Robinson defeateds Carmen Basilio, the pugilists were engaged in one hell of fight in which Robinson reagained the middleweight championship. It was the fifth and final title of his career. Robinson is considered by many to be the greatest prizefighter in history. No less an authority than heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali has said, “My idol will always be Sugar Ray Robinson, who was, and remains, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters to have ever lived in this century.” The autograph was aquired ringside by consignor's father, former Cornell football coach George K. (Lefty) James who asked old Blue eyes if he would sign his ticket. The Chairman of the board obliged and the result is a piece of classic memorabilia signed by the one and only Voice of the cnetury at one of the greatest fights in boxing hostory.
