Elvis Presley, born January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, was an American singer and actor often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll." He gained fame in the mid-1950s with his distinctive voice, energetic performances, and blending of musical genres, including country, gospel, and rhythm and blues. His first major hit, "Heartbreak Hotel," in 1956, launched him into superstardom, and he became known for hits like "Hound Dog," "Love Me Tender," and "Jailhouse Rock." Elvis also had a successful film career, starring in over 30 movies. His flamboyant stage presence and charisma, particularly in his Las Vegas performances, left a lasting impact on popular culture. He passed away on August 16, 1977, at his home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee.
