(35) Franklin Library Full Leather Books and (24) Condensed Works. The highest tier produced by the company, this collection includes some of the most important creations in the history of Western literature, from The Iliad to The Grapes of Wrath.

The Franklin Library was a division of The Franklin Mint that produced fine collector edition leather bound books over three decades ending in the year 2000. For this reason all Franklin Library editions are now considered “out of print” and are no longer available for sale directly from the Mint. The Franklin Library leather bound books were produced in three different binding styles referred to as full genuine leather, imitation leather, and quarter bound genuine leather. The full leather bound editions were produced throughout the Franklin Library’s full life span and the other two styles (imitation and quarter bound) were only produced through the 1970s and 80s. All editions came with high quality paper sewn into the binding, with gilded page edges and raised spine bands that gave each book a distinctive antique look. Many series and limited editions were available through the Library, and today collectors seek out complete sets, sometimes paying many thousands for books that originally sold for mere hundreds or less.
