Von Schierholz was a German porcelain factory founded in 1817 in Plaue, Thuringia, known for its ornate decorative figurines and fine porcelain craftsmanship. The company became especially famous in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for its delicate “porcelain lace” technique, in which real lace fabric was dipped in porcelain slip and fired so the cloth burned away, leaving intricate lace-like details on dresses and costumes. Von Schierholz produced a wide range of figurines—dancers, aristocratic couples, and mythological characters—often lavishly decorated with flowers, gilding, and elaborate bases. These highly decorative pieces became popular collectibles and remain admired for their technical skill and the elegance associated with traditional German porcelain artistry.
