(3) Carved Wood Batik Chop Stamps. Lot of three batik stamps; bird, flower, and trees.

Batik chops are metal or wooden stamps used in the traditional batik process to apply intricate wax patterns onto fabric, primarily in Indonesian and Malaysian textile arts. Unlike the freehand canting tool, which draws wax designs manually, a batik chop allows artisans to reproduce complex, symmetrical patterns more quickly and consistently. The chop is dipped in hot wax and then pressed onto the fabric, creating a resist that prevents dye from penetrating the stamped areas. These tools often feature detailed geometric, floral, or symbolic motifs and require great skill to align properly during the printing process. Batik chops have played a vital role in the evolution of batik from a purely handcrafted art to a semi-industrialized practice, helping preserve cultural patterns while increasing production efficiency.
