Spode Copeland refers to the ceramics produced by the firm founded by Josiah Spode in Stoke-on-Trent and later operated under the Copeland family, representing one of the most influential names in English pottery and porcelain. The company is especially celebrated for perfecting bone china in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and for popularizing blue-and-white transferware, notably the enduring “Italian” pattern. Combining technical innovation with elegant, widely accessible design, Spode Copeland wares became staples of British and international table culture, bridging fine porcelain and high-quality industrial production.
