(2) Small Glidden Studio Pottery Hand-Painted Candy Dishes. Pair of Glidden Pottery hand painted glazed ceramic candy dishes, one with incise feather pattern, one with irate baby hippo. Grr!

Glidden Pottery was a notable American ceramics company that operated from 1940 to 1957 in Alfred, New York. Founded by Glidden Parker, a ceramic designer trained at Alfred University, the company specialized in modern, hand-decorated stoneware that blended industrial techniques like slipcasting with artisanal surface decoration. Known for its clean, organic forms and subdued, matte glazes, Glidden Pottery offered stylish, affordable dinnerware and art pottery that appealed to a mid-century consumer base. The pieces often featured hand-painted patterns or incised designs, each adding a personal touch to mass-produced forms. Sold through high-end department stores and even appearing on television shows like I Love Lucy, Glidden Pottery became a symbol of accessible modern design. Today, it is highly regarded by collectors and design historians for its contribution to American mid-century ceramics.
