2 Persian Romantic Paintings on Bone (Mythatein). Images have opposite sides of the romantic spectrum. Image 1 has a woman holding an instrument as a man wraps his arms around her legs embracing with leaves falling around them. Image 2 has the woman's eyes embracing the man as he picks from a tree. There is a signature on the bottom right. Both paintings have the attention to detail that you would expect from a well trained artist.
The thin bone painted on in Persia is commonly referred to as mythatein. Mythatein is a traditional art form from Iran that involves carving animal, vegetal or geometrical shapes on thin strips of bone, usually from the femur. This art form is traditionally used to create decorative elements for architecture, as well as for jewelry and other forms of decorative arts. Mythatein is known for its intricate patterns, delicate details, and bright, bold colors. The art form is often associated with the Zoroastrian religion, and it is believed that the bone carvings have a significant spiritual attachment.
