Schoondijke is a municipality located in the Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality has a population of approximately 38,000 people. It is known for its beaches, nature reserves and historic sites like the fortress of Nieuwpoort and the port city of Rotterdam is nearby. The municipality is also home to several popular recreational activities such as yachting, golfing, and sailing.
This map of Schoondijke originates from the 'Gemeente-Atlas' of Jaob Kuyper. This atlas of all towns in the Netherlands was published from 1865-1870 and included all towns in the Dutch province of Zeeland. These maps are also known as Kuyperkaarten or Kuyperkaartjes. Jacob Kuyper was one of the most important of the Dutch atlas editors of the second half of the 19th century. He is particularly known for the 'Gemeente Atlas", with 1210 maps of all the towns and villages in the Netherlands.
