(2) Chinese Sang de Bouef Porcelain Vases. Pair of sang de bouef glazed ceramic vases. Unmarked. Holes drilled in center of base.

Size: 13 x 13 x 18 in. 

Sang de boeuf (French for "oxblood") ceramics refer to a deep red glaze developed in China during the Qing Dynasty, particularly in the Kangxi (1662–1722) and Qianlong (1736–1795) periods. This rich, glossy red glaze, achieved through copper-based reduction firing, was highly prized for its depth and variation, often displaying subtle streaks or mottling. The technique was later admired and reproduced in Europe, especially in 19th-century French and British ceramics. Sang de boeuf remains a sought-after finish in porcelain and stoneware, valued for its bold color and technical complexity.
