(2)Chinese  Ink on Silk Scrolls and (4) Bamboo Umbrellas. Lot comprised of two ink and watercolor on silk scrolls, one depicting a tiger, one with traveling figures, and four small paper umbrellas.

Ink on silk scrolls represents one of the most revered mediums in traditional Chinese painting, combining the delicate elegance of silk with the expressive fluidity of brush and ink. Used for both hanging and handscroll formats, silk provided a smooth, luminous surface that enhanced the depth and tonal range of the ink, allowing artists to render landscapes, calligraphy, and figural scenes with remarkable nuance. Because silk is more absorbent and fragile than paper, working with it required exceptional control and technique, making these scrolls highly prized for their craftsmanship as well as their aesthetic and cultural value. Often created by scholar-artists, these scrolls were as much meditative expressions as visual records, capturing philosophical ideals and the impermanence of nature in a medium that itself is delicate and enduring.
