Macchia art glass refers to a vibrant, speckled glasswork technique developed by renowned artist Dale Chihuly and gaffer William Morris in 1981. Named after the Italian word for “spot” or “stain,” these organic, billowing bowls feature a starkly contrasting interior and exterior color palette, separated by a distinct, bright lip wrap. The form has become immensely popular in interior design, with many hand-blown Murano pieces emulating the style ever since.
