Bruce Balfour is known for Painting. A native San Franciscain, Bruce Xavier Balfour attended the California School of Fine Arts. At one period in his career , he spent a number of years painting and sculpting in the Central Pacific, mainly Samoa. His work has been purchased for private collections in the United States and Europe. Upon his return to San Francisco, he designed murals on a Roraan Empire theme for educational films. This led to the need for certain effects in technique. Studying the effects of watercolor , oil , and encaustic medias, he developed values of color tones as seen in shale and rock formations and sea air corrosive qualities. Distinguishing certain dyes of cobalt and rust, he then developed the technique of fusion of dry pigment and oil combined with special glazes. Location N HIGH
