Royal Vienna porcelain is fine porcelain produced by the imperial porcelain manufactory founded in Vienna in 1718 under the patronage of the Habsburg dynasty. It is known for its exceptional craftsmanship, finely painted decoration, rich gilding, and scenes inspired by classical mythology, history, and portraiture. The original factory operated until 1864 and supplied luxury porcelain to European courts and aristocratic patrons. In the late nineteenth century, other manufacturers adopted the Royal Vienna name and shield mark for decorative wares, making attribution more complex. Today, authentic Royal Vienna porcelain remains highly valued by collectors for its artistic quality, technical excellence, and historical importance.
