Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. is an American manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings, founded in 1932 by Theodore Baumritter and Nathan S. Ancell in Beecher Falls, Vermont. The company, initially named Baumritter Corporation, adopted the “Ethan Allen” name for its early-American style furniture line in 1939 after the famous Revolutionary War leader, and officially changed its corporate name later when it moved its headquarters from New York City to Danbury, Connecticut in 1972. After being sold to Interco in 1980 and then to a management group in 1989, the company went public in 1993, and today they are still known for producing custom furniture domestically, with 139 retail design centers as of June 2023.
