Founded in Leipzig in 1908 by Rudolf Kiesewetter, Excelsior-Werke Kiesewetter established itself as one of Germany’s pioneering manufacturers of electrical measuring instruments. Over the decades, the company earned a strong reputation for producing high-precision testing equipment, exposure meters, vacuum tube testers, and specialized laboratory devices. Following World War II and the partition of Germany, the firm operated under partial and eventually full state control within the German Democratic Republic (DDR) as VEB Excelsiorwerk. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification, the company was reprivatized, restructuring into Rudolf Kiesewetter Messtechnik GmbH to continue its long tradition of measurement technology.
