Exceptional French 950/1000 & Crystal / Sterling Covered Compote. Silver Marking is a face with a P to the left of it which dates it at 1793 a time in France where there was not an official silversmith code. Acorn Finial.
The piece is in exceptional condition for the age. The crystal bowl has no visible wear or marks. The figural decorations around the compote in silver are not scratched with very minor wear.
Although no exact match could be found for a comparable, First Dibs has one labeled as French Early 19th Century 1st Empire Period Signed Sterling Silver Lidded Urn. It is being listed for $10,900.
