1892 Ornate Christian Prayer Book "The Golden Key of Heaven" - AS IS. Velvet cover with metal and carved bone inlay in the form of a cross on the front. Flower-shaped metal clasp on the side. Personalized on the blank side of the frontispiece with "Miss Mamie Mooney, Glendale, R.J." 

Condition: Missing sections of bone and yellowing of the pages.

"The Golden Key of Heaven" is a comprehensive prayer book for lay Catholics, typically containing the Order of the Mass, devotions (like the Rosary and Stations of the Cross), novenas, and litanies. Modern versions  are now mass produced, but in the 19th Century religious books in "treasure bindings" such as this were often made in and were intended as cherished gifts for major religious milestones like First Communions or weddings.
