Fifteen volumes of The Windsor Magazine, An Illustrated Monthly for Men and Women, published in London by Ward Lock Co. Limited. These monthlies were named to honor Queen Victoria and attracted writes such as Rudyard Kipling, Rider Haggard, Jack London, and others. The very first volume has a short story by Kipling titled "An Unqualified Pilot" and there are 12 poems and stories by Kipling in these 15 volumes. There are three stories by A Conan Doyle, who wrote Sherlock Holmes, and a story by Winston Churchill, future prime minister of England. All the books have gilt decorated covers. Volume II is missing and some bindings have running and wear. Volume XIII has damage to the spine, but has Kipling's story "Sahib's War" inside. The book measures 9 5/8 x 6 3/4 in. wide, and they are hard to find. There are only 18 individual books listed on the rare book web site we use, and we are offering 15 volumes in just this one lot.
