(12) Piece English Porcelain Cups and Saucers. Late 19th Century. The upper half of each cup and the wide border of each saucer are enveloped in a matte, sage-green ground coat. This colored band is decorated in a white slip relief style mimicking pâte-sur-pâte, featuring hand-applied, classical trailing white roses, buds, and dense leafy vines. Separated from the green border by a gilded double band and an intricate gold dotted/beaded chain, the lower portion of the cups features a bright white porcelain ground. This area is naturalistically painted with vibrant, asymmetrical polychrome botanical bouquets highlighting full pink cabbage roses, purple asters, and orange poppies.
